About The Position

The Lead Security Professional - Protective Services Agent will be responsible for providing Executive Protection (EP) support to Lumen's Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in Denver, CO and throughout the country. The Agent will be required to provide armed and/or unarmed protection in an office environment as well as during domestic and international travel. Responsibilities may also include conducting venue security advances, drafting written risk and site assessments, and engaging in logistics and transportation arrangements and modifications.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of executive protection experience including advance planning, surveillance and counter surveillance operations, special event security, and security driving in government or the private sector.
  • Bachelor's or associate degree(s) in an EP related field (e.g., criminal justice, psychology, behavioral/social sciences, law, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be licensed, certified, registered to carry a concealed weapon in Denver, Colorado and other locations where the SLT travel, in a security guard capacity, or have the means to obtain such certification.
  • Must possess a valid LEOSA (HR-218) card or meet all the requirements and be willing to obtain the card upon hiring. Must maintain HR-218 card currency for the duration of employment with Lumen.
  • Specific training in executive protection and one or more of the following: defensive tactics, tactical emergency casualty care, tactical/evasive driving, and combat shooting.
  • Ability to perform duties through stressful interpersonal interactions, situations, and incidents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, SLT members and external stakeholders.
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the Denver, CO metropolitan area.
  • Ability to travel domestically on short notice, work long and flexible hours (including nights and weekends), and quickly respond to security incidents involving the SLT that require immediate attention.
  • Valid Driver's License and US Passport.
  • Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification through an approved Red Cross provider.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of law enforcement experience.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Executive Protection Specialist or similar.
  • Familiarity with applicable state laws and regulations governing EP licensing and CCW.
  • 5+ years corporate EP experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide close protection and other security-related functions for SLT members during domestic and/or international assignments in office and residential environments.
  • Transport SLT members and/or family members to events and appointments, using evasive and/or defensive driving tactics as needed.
  • Perform protective services advance planning and threat vulnerability assessments.
  • Lead counter surveillance operations and report findings.
  • Communicate vulnerabilities or safety concerns to SLT members in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate medical emergency response, as needed.
  • Quickly deescalate tense situations that arise at the office, residence or external events.
  • Engage in additional corporate security tasks when not assigned EP-specific duties.
