The Lead Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and respectful environment for residents, staff, and visitors within the nursing home. This role oversees daily security operations, supervises security staff, and ensures compliance with facility policies, safety regulations, and healthcare security standards while providing compassionate service to an elderly and vulnerable population.

Requirements

  • Current New York State Security License.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of security experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of emergency response, de-escalation techniques, and access control.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
  • Basic computer skills for report writing and incident documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare, nursing home, or residential facility security strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, schedule, and supervise security guards during assigned shifts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for security-related incidents and emergencies.
  • Monitor facility access points, visitor logs, and surveillance systems.
  • Responsible for weekly/monthly inspection of specified equipment.
  • Conduct regular patrols of interior and exterior areas to ensure resident safety.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to incidents such as disturbances, medical emergencies, or elopement risks.
  • Coordinate with nursing staff, administration, and emergency responders as needed.
  • Enforce facility policies while maintaining a calm, respectful, and compassionate approach.
  • Prepare incident reports, daily logs, and shift summaries.
  • Train and mentor security staff on procedures, de-escalation techniques, and resident interaction.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, facility regulations, and safety protocols.
  • Identify potential security risks and recommend corrective actions.
