About The Position

Under general supervision of the Security Supervisor, accomplishes the Security Office’s strategic objectives by planning and organizing the assigned functions required to operate and maintain departmental activities and services. Incumbent is expected to perform most work in a fairly independent manner. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
  • One (1) Year progressive work experience in Security related field.
  • Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record during tenure of employment.
  • Must complete Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 30 calendar days of hire.
  • Must attain American Heart Association First Aid/CPR/AED certification within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Must be able to pass test and receive certification in Pepper Spray Defense, Handcuffing Handling Tactics, Healthcare Defensive Tactics Systems, and Defense Baton within 120 days of hire.
  • Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Program requirements and background investigation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively.
  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately.
  • Knowledge of reporting system.
  • Knowledge of police ten codes.
  • Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and or console monitors.
  • Knowledge to demonstrate basic principles of Security measures techniques.
  • Ability to abide the departmental established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing with staff and the general public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and demonstrates team-building skills with empathy and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and staff from harmful act in violation of laws and hospital regulations.
  • Oversees, instructs and coordinates the activities of Security Attendants.
  • Will oversee the security department when security supervisor is not available.
  • Provide security services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, weekends and holidays.
  • Coordinate chopper landing for patient transport.
  • Monitor and assist and guidance/ teaching security officers with patrol hospital campus, including residential area and parking lots.
  • Monitor and assist with security officers inspect buildings, windows and doors after working hours.
  • Monitor and assign security officers with patrolling hospital events
  • Provide written reports on any incidents prior to shift ending.
  • Maintain radio/telephone communication.
  • Complete and provide security occurrence reports to Quality/Risk Management Department.
  • Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain available surveillance cameras.
  • Respond to general alarms, power outages, broken water lines and security breaches.
  • Maintain communication with security personnel and dispatchers.
  • Be fully accountable for all eventualities in the Security Unit.
  • Assist with Law Enforcement on any incidents that occurs on hospital campus.
  • Provide professional services to visitors coming onto the compound.
  • Provide proper directions and offer only necessary information to visitor and/or patients.
  • Participate in and attend in-services and educational programs.
  • Meet and comply with Personnel Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality
  • Notify and assist Security Supervisor of needed materials and/or supplies.
  • Must assist with Emergency Response Incidents and Mock drills.
  • Must perform dispatcher duties when necessary.
  • Must present self in a clean neat and professional manner.
  • Must be able to use bicycle to patrol campus.
  • Perform other duties as required.
