About The Position

Responsible for serving as the senior operational lead for the civilian Security force. This is a full-time leadership assignment with primary duty hours of Tuesday through Friday, 1300–2300, or as otherwise directed by the Chief of Security. The selected member will sit above the Shift Supervisors and serve as the civilian peer to the military Operations NCOIC. Benefits: This is a full-time state position that provides a percentage of matching contributions to employees’ retirement plans, 11 holidays, and a minimum of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year. The state also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. Essential Functions: Integrated Force Management: Collaborating directly with the Operations NCOIC to organize and maintain civilian flight schedules; ensuring combined shift manning meets SOSFS mission requirements and Total Force objectives. Administrative Leadership: Drafting and distributing formal correspondence, policy directives, and Law Enforcement memoranda on behalf of the 137th SFS-137TH SFS-OMDSECSEC. Strategic Liaison: Serving as the primary civilian bridge to the Operations Superintendent (SMSgt) and the Chief of Security. Information Management: Developing and maintaining a comprehensive filing system for civilian personnel, training records, and sensitive LE documentation. Command Support: Scheduling operational meetings, recording detailed minutes, and tracking executive action items for the 137TH SFS-OMDSEC. Calendar & Resource Coordination: Partnering with military counterparts to manage calendars across multiple functions, deconflicting leave, training, and mission-essential tasks. Policy Maintenance: Updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining digital document libraries, and high-level word processing. Special Operations Coordination: Planning and overseeing civilian Security involvement in base-wide events and specialized security details in tandem with civilian and military leadership. Data Integrity: Creating, maintaining, and auditing information within Law Enforcement databases and tracking systems to ensure data accuracy. Requirements

  • Knowledge of routine security practices, the ability to follow oral and written instructions; give clear and concise directions; make oral and written reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; effectively evaluate emergency situations.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices and the ability to supervise the work of others.
  • Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of five years of experience in security or law enforcement, with at least two years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Possess a current Armed Security Guard License through the Council on Law Enforcement and Education Training (CLEET).
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Work in all weather conditions
  • Able to lift minimum of 15 pounds
  • Serves a 12 month trial period
  • Contingent on a favorable NCIC/OSBI background check
  • Contingent on passing pre-employment drug & alcohol screening
  • T3 (secret) security clearance (eligibility for national positions shall be granted only to persons who are U.S. citizens)
  • Federal position which is contingent on continuous federal funding
  • Contingent on passing a physical agility test (PAT) in required time limit, and be required to sign a PAT agreement.
  • Minimum physical agility standards are as follows: Weapon Retention techniques, Intermediate Weapon (expandable baton) performance for 15 seconds, Handcuffing technique within 2 min, execute 21 pushups in two minutes, execute 29 sit-ups in two minutes. Candidate must then complete a 1 ½ mile walk within 31:30 mins or a run of 1 mile within 13:30 min or 300 meter sprint in 81 sec. (PAT standards are subject to change)
  • Contingent on a favorable medical exam
  • Contingent upon a satisfactory outcome of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) test.
  • Copy of CLEET license
  • Available to work if called in due to an emergency
  • Employee will be considered essential personnel (required to work during inclement “bad” weather)
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license
