The Lead Searcher assembles title packages, searches for tax documentation or performs other research related to escrow and title closings. The work is done in an office, title plant or remotely traveling to court houses, municipalities and other government entities to perform the searches. This role is a combination of leadership and search responsibilities, and interfaces with management. The work is varied and complex and requires deep knowledge and understanding. The Lead Searcher performs all the work that the unit supports and searches multiple file/product types, possessing broad geographic knowledge of state practices and requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong MS skill set
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of company terminology, search department procedures and tools
  • People/leadership/interpersonal skills
  • Complex problem solving skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and remain flexible to changing schedules and demands
  • Solid administrative skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years related experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

Responsibilities

  • Assembles title packages
  • Searches for tax documentation or performs other research related to escrow and title closings
  • Performs all the work that the unit supports; searches multiple file/product types
  • Coordinating the work and activities of others
  • Resolving escalated issues
  • Measuring and monitoring capacity
  • Coordinating workflow
  • Assigning tasks
  • Providing training
  • May provide input to hiring decisions and performance management process and process efficiency improvements
  • Conducts title research to compile search packages
  • Investigates and interprets tax records in order to determine tax liability
  • Compiles and reports information to management
