Why Join Us | DuPont Careers Position Overview DuPont Cyrel® Flexographic Solutions is seeking a Senior Scientist to drive innovation in photopolymer plate technology for the global flexographic printing market. This role focuses on photochemistry, polymer design, and formulation development, enabling new material platforms that advance print quality, productivity, and sustainability. The Senior Scientist will be a key technical leader developing new formulation strategies, scaling materials to manufacturing, and collaborating across R&D, Applications, Technical Service, and Operations to commercialize new products.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field (required).
  • Demonstrated technical curiosity and collaborative approach to scientific inquiry.
  • Strong experience in polymer formulation, polymerization mechanisms, and structure–property optimization.
  • Experience with photo‑active systems, photopolymerization kinetics, and UV/laser‑imaging technologies.
  • Familiarity with experimental design, statistical analysis, and data modeling tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive working in cross‑functional teams and leading technical projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in programming environments such as Python, MATLAB, or Visual Basic (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Photopolymer & Formulation Innovation Design and optimize photopolymer systems, including inventing and developing new material platforms (monomers, oligomers, photo‑initiators, additives), advancing polymer formulation strategies, and establishing structure–property relationships that deliver improved imaging performance, curing behavior, durability, and sustainability.
  • Develop new polymer formulations and produce photopolymer plates for flexographic printing applications including leading projects that usher these to commercialization
  • Apply photochemistry principles to improve sensitivity, imaging performance, curing behavior, and environmental robustness.
  • Laboratory Leadership & Execution Conduct hands‑on experimental work in polymer formulation, processing, and plate making.
  • Direct and mentor a technician or small team to execute laboratory experiments and pilot‑line scale‑ups.
  • Product & Technology Development Work as part of a global, cross‑functional technical team to deliver new products from concept through commercialization.
  • Translate customer and market needs into material and formulation requirements.
  • Lead new product trials and partner with Applications and customers to evaluate end-use performance.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing to scale new formulations and ensure robust commercialization.
  • Strategic & Innovation Leadership Provide technical project leadership to meet program milestones and maintain project momentum.
  • Scout new technology areas for innovation in photopolymer, coating, and imaging science.
  • Identify opportunities related to sustainability, circular materials, and manufacturing efficiency.
