About The Position

The Lead Teacher for Science (BMS) will serve as a model classroom for effective instruction during the 2025-2026 school year. This position is intended for internal candidates only and reports to the Building Principal in collaboration with District Coordinators/Directors. The ideal candidate will be an experienced and licensed teacher with exemplary teaching and instructional leadership skills in the relevant content area.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a model classroom for effective instruction.
• Plan and facilitate new teacher orientation sessions.
• Conduct professional development sessions and PLCs.
• Budget and order materials for the classroom.
• Gather and distribute professional and technical resource materials.
• Organize common and standardized assessments, timelines, and testing materials.
• Collect data and lead teacher teams in analyzing assessment data to inform instruction.
• Support the development of common assessments and implementation of Massachusetts Frameworks.
• Plan, facilitate and/or participate in PLCs, faculty meetings, PD, Chelsea Professional Learning Academies, and new teacher days as needed.
• Participate as a team member of ILT and Middle School Department PLCs.
• Perform additional duties as determined by the principal.
• Responsibilities extend beyond the regular school day/school year.
