About The Position

Interfor is seeking a motivated, growth-focused, and dependable Lead Sawmill Operator to join our team in Perry, Georgia. The successful candidate will be safety-conscious, reliable, committed, and eager to learn while supporting efficient mill operations. The pay range for this position is $23.17 – 31.52 per hour, depending on the level of experience and current machine proficiency. This is a Night Shift position.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
2 or more years in a sawmill environment.
Knowledge of Southern Yellow Pine lumber manufacturing.
Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and teamwork.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Support the Sawmill Supervisor and shift operations by helping coordinate daily activities and reinforcing operational priorities.
Serve as a point of contact on the floor to help communicate expectations, support teammates, and maintain efficient workflow throughout the shift.
Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring all employees follow established safety procedures and policies.
Assist with planning and facilitating weekly departmental safety meetings.
Participate in the development, review, and maintenance of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
Identify equipment issues, ensure work orders are written accurately and in a timely manner, and follow up on machine repairs as needed.
Conduct routine inspections to identify safety, quality, or operational concerns and escalate issues appropriately.
Support the efforts of the Quality Control department, safety committee, and other mill task forces as assigned.
