The Lead Sales Associate is expected to provide superior customer service by greeting and assisting customers, ensuring that their needs are met promptly and effectively. Operating the cash register and scanner is a key duty, which includes itemizing and totaling customer purchases, collecting payments, making change, and bagging merchandise. The Lead Sales Associate will also follow company processes to receive and unpack merchandise, stock shelves, and build merchandise displays according to planograms. Maintaining cleanliness in the store is essential, which includes taking out trash, dusting, mopping floors, and cleaning restrooms and stockrooms. The Lead Sales Associate will also assist in setting up sidewalk displays to attract customers. Working conditions for this position include frequent walking and standing, as well as bending, stooping, and kneeling to manage the checkout station and stock merchandise. The role requires the ability to handle merchandise and equipment, including handheld scanners, pricing guns, and various carts. The Lead Sales Associate must be capable of lifting up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 55 pounds occasionally, as well as climbing step ladders to reach merchandise at heights of up to six feet. The work environment is fast-paced with a moderate noise level, and there may be occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. Additionally, the Lead Sales Associate may need to provide their own transportation for tasks such as making bank deposits and attending management meetings.
