About The Position

GENERAL PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to maintain quality standards and product levels of all products on the salad bar. This person will be preparing items for the salad bar, mixing salad dressings, setting up and taking down the salad bar and soup bar, preparing to-go salads, sandwiches, and dips, training new salad bar associates, determining production and inventory levels, receiving and stocking product, and providing exceptional customer service.

  • Current Food Handler’s Permit
  • Must enjoy working with and handling salad bar ingredients
  • Should have a passion for preparing, cooking, and eating food
  • Ability to read and follow a recipe
  • Basic math skills used to double or half a recipe
  • Have knowledge of appropriate knife skills and cutting techniques
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with and manage a diverse group of customers and associates
  • Ability to professionally and appropriately handle conflict
  • Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success as well as the success of your team
  • Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized skills and techniques

Responsibilities

  • Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
  • Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services the kitchen provides
  • Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the salad bar
  • Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all products, paying particular attention to ad items
  • Ensures the kitchen is cleaned and sanitized daily and meets the company standards for appearance
  • Delivers excellent customer service to all customers
  • Prepares items for the salad bar; greens, walnuts, croutons, beets, bacon, etc.
  • Mixes salad dressings
  • Mixes to-go dips
  • Packaging to-go soups, salads, and sandwiches
  • Setup and/or takedown of salad bar and soup bar
  • Responsible for inventory and ordering for the salad bar
  • Receiving and stocking of product
  • Teaches, mentors, and educates associates to help them be successful members of the team
  • Provides honest, direct, and constant feedback to associates regarding their performance and areas of improvement
  • Assists as needed to ensure the success of the kitchen as a whole
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
