About The Position

We're seeking a Lead Safety Ambassador to guide our Safety Ambassador team and maintain safety across Plymouth properties. This frontline leadership role combines direct oversight, coaching, and field support for Safety Ambassadors with hands-on safety presence in higher-incident or understaffed buildings. You'll uphold our mission by fostering trauma-informed, culturally responsive safety practices that support resident stability and staff confidence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional training in social services/behavioral health preferred.
  • Valid Washington driver's license required.
  • 1+ years in safety, crisis intervention, housing services, mental health, or related field with vulnerable populations.
  • Proven de-escalation, mediation, and trauma-informed skills.
  • Ability to stay grounded amid verbal/physical aggression.
  • Strong communication for crisis rapport-building.
  • Physical ability for property patrols and extended walking.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in supportive housing, homelessness services, social services, mental health, or harm reduction is preferred.
  • Leadership, mentoring, or team coordination experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Housing First and supportive housing models is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily guidance, coaching, and performance support to the Safety Ambassador team.
  • Train new team members on de-escalation, trauma-informed care, incident reporting, floor checks, and Plymouth-specific safety procedures.
  • Model professional conduct aligned with our mission, cultural proficiency, and harm-reduction framework.
  • Maintain physical presence in higher-incident or understaffed Plymouth properties as identified by Safety Management.
  • Monitor cameras and respond to radio/phone calls from building staff requesting backup.
  • Conduct regular internal/external safety walkthroughs using Plymouth-funded transportation.
  • Assist with resident evictions or critical incidents requiring stabilization support.
  • Document safety interactions and ensure Ambassadors meet reporting standards.
  • Build rapport with residents to prevent and de-escalate conflicts.
  • Support frontline staff providing trauma-informed care during mental health crises, verbal aggression, or physical outbursts.
  • Collaborate with Residential Specialists and building staff on safety concerns and tenant issues alongside the Crisis Intervention Manager.
  • Uphold organizational policies using trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches.
  • Identify hazards and escalate to Safety Management or Crisis Manager.
  • Compile shift summaries, incident trends, and improvement recommendations for leadership.
  • Support rollout of new safety initiatives, protocols, and training.
