About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Lead Right of Way (ROW) Agent to serve as a senior technical resource and informal leader within our Right-of-Way team. This role performs advanced acquisition work while providing mentorship, quality oversight, and guidance to other ROW Agents. This position works largely independently, with manager review at critical milestones, and carries increased responsibility for complex negotiations, project workstreams, and team goals.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s or associate degree (with advanced industry certification), or 8+ years without a degree
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, management, or real estate preferred
  • Willingness to travel from project to project. Travel varies but often exceeds 75% and can be up to 100% at times.
  • Proven success acquiring real estate property rights
  • Strong knowledge of real estate law, surveying, appraisals, contracts, and engineered drawings
  • Experience in utility, energy, transportation, or infrastructure projects
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior staff
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to independently resolve issues and escalate when appropriate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Real Estate License (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Notary Commission (or ability to obtain within 90 days)

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced industry designation or certification (IRWA, AAPL, PMP) or the ability to gain one

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, sensitive, high-visibility landowner negotiations
  • Perform advanced real estate acquisition and property rights work
  • Serve as first escalation point for assigned ROW Agents
  • Provide technical guidance, quality reviews, and mentorship
  • Read and interpret title reports, legal descriptions, appraisals, contracts, and engineered plans
  • Investigate route selection analysis and support project decision-making
  • Support Project Managers with coordination and issue resolution
  • May function as an informal Project Manager when needed
  • Manage challenging or high-risk landowner relationships with confidentiality
