This is a working supervisory position responsible for the leadership of the medical team under the mentorship of the Practice Manager. While previous leadership experience is not required, it is preferred. This person will be responsible for: directing on-the-job training to develop employee skills, advising employees of performance requirements and their progress in meeting those requirements, discussing corrective measures to improve performance and prepare appraisals. This person will also provide direction for efficient work flow, assist with onboarding newly hired staff members, and assist in staffing schedules and adjusting coverage where needed. The other portion of this job includes working on the floor with the team completing veterinary technician duties, which includes (but is not limited to): animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.
