The Lead Recovery Support Specialist is an active member of the Choices Emergency Response Team (CERT). Under supervision of the CERT Supervisor, the Lead Recovery Support Specialist functions as a role model to peers; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills. The Lead Recovery Support Specialist provides leadership to the Recovery Support Specialists on the team through coaching and mentoring. The Lead Recovery Support Specialist will hold a caseload and provide direct peer-based recovery support services to individuals with substance use and/or co-occurring mental health disorders. The Lead Recover Support Specialist will be an active member of the community, conducting outreach and engagement activities. The Lead Recovery Support Specialist will assist with data collection, documentation, and reporting outcomes. This role combines program coordination, staff mentorship, and client engagement to ensure high-quality, recovery-oriented services aligned with evidence-based and trauma-informed practices. The Choices Emergency Response Teams are responsible for 24/7 mobile emergency responses for youth and adults experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis in Henry, Johnson, Morgan, and Shelby County. The CERT teams operate from a strengths-based perspective, collaborating with first responders, community stakeholders, clinical leadership, care coordinators, and fellow mobile crisis responders. The CERT teams will work within a culture of crisis prevention, making every effort to ensure individuals are effectively stabilized within their home and community whenever possible. The CERT teams will ensure appropriate follow-up individuals who have experienced a crisis event and ensure linkage to ongoing supports and services, operating in an enhanced localized crisis response system contributing to the goal of increased community stabilization.
