About The Position

MedStar Health is looking for a Lead Radiation Therapist to join our team at MedStar Washington Hospital Center! The ideal candidate will be a licensed Radiation Therapist with leadership and clinical skills, knowledge of various software applications including Microsoft Word, the ability to lead and work well within a team, and interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication. The Lead Radiation Therapist coordinates all therapy activities including patient treatment, simulation schedules, and staffing coverage in the office. Trains new therapy associates in the daily operations of the office including treatment and simulator treatment unit QA and clinical procedures. Communicates with the physician and technical director on all activities within the department. Interacts with the physician and all office staff members to ensure patients are treated promptly. Communicates with the Technical Director regarding progress in attaining department goals. Requirements

  • Associate degree in Radiation Therapy Technology.
  • 1-2 years' experience in Radiation Therapy.
  • ARRT in Radiation Therapy.
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Basic Life Support with AED (Automated External Defibrillators).
  • licensed Radiation Therapist

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy Technology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides coverage at other offices when required.
  • Participates in the on-call schedule.
  • Accurately records all aspects of simulation, treatment delivery, and billing.
  • Maintains proficiency with all aspects of the EMR and IGRT.
  • Consistently utilizes the QA Checklist function.
  • Able to run the Contingency Report.
  • Coordinates all therapy activities including patient treatment, simulation schedules, and staffing coverage in the office in the absence of the chief therapist or senior therapist.
  • Trains new therapy associates in the daily operations of the office including treatment and simulator treatment unit QA and clinical procedures in the absence of the chief therapist or senior therapist.
  • Communicates with the physician and technical director on all activities within the department in the absence of the chief therapist or senior therapist.
  • Responsible for daily activities on the specific treatment unit.
  • The Lead therapist facilitates communication within the department.
  • Responsible for new start chart QA, weekly Chart QA, attendance at morning huddles and follow-up, machine credentialing of new associates, and rotating on-call.
  • Supports the Chief Therapist in department operations, staff training, maintaining department supplies, and decision-making processes.
