Lead Quality Engineer
About The Position
This position will be on-site and located at our HQ at San Diego, California. Remote or Hybrid is not available. Axos Bank is seeking a Lead Quality Engineer with a strong background in testing web and mobile applications, particularly in the online banking domain. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with automation frameworks—either UI or API—and a passion for delivering high-quality, secure, and user-friendly digital banking experiences. Experience with low-code/no-code automation platforms like Testim is a plus. You’ll be leading a fast-paced quality engineering team that values precision, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science , Engineering, or related field.
- 7 + years of experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on leading a team of 6 or more .
- Proficiency in at least one area of automation: UI automation using frameworks like Selenium or Cypress, mobile automation using Appium, or API automation using tools such as Postman or RestAssured .
- Experience testing both web UI and mobile applications (iOS and Android).
- Experience working with SQL databases for test data validation and backend verification.
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate issues and collaborate across teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Nice To Haves
- Exposure to low-code/no-code automation platforms such as Test im is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI fundamentals and AI usage in software testing
- Experience in the banking or fintech industry is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead organization-wide quality initiatives with an automation-first and AI-first mindset.
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web and mobile applications.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily st and-ups, and retrospectives as part of an Agile team.
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other quality engineers to understand requirements and define test strategies.
- Oversee release coordination activities and provide formal Quality endorsement confirming the project’s readiness for deployment.
- Maintain standardized quality dashboards for each project to monitor key metrics and performance indicators.
- Attend project status meetings to showcase automation and AI impact.
- Escalate quality-related conflicts to QE management.
- Mentor QEs through 1-on-1 guidance and peer review sessions.
