About The Position

Under the general direction of the Facilities Services Supervisor, this position will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring all facilities remain in operating form. Daily tasks will vary day-to-day based on what is requiring the attention at the time. This position also leads and participates in the implementation of the facilities maintenance service quality standards. Organizes and coordinates the activities of assigned Quality Control Technicians and contractors to ensure compliance with contract specifications on Airport managed facilities.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in facilities maintenance.
  • Formal training and/or two (2) years of experience in one of the following technical specialties, based on the specific vacancy: Industrial electrical/mechanical operations and/or maintenance. Industrial or commercial HVAC and related mechanical systems. Commercial custodial services supervision. Baggage handling and Passenger boarding bridge systems.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Must be able to work rotating shift when requested.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
  • This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in DFW Airport’s Categories and Classifications Administrative Policy and Procedure. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.
  • This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.
  • Knowledge of Airport terminal systems to include baggage carousels, conveyance, general electrical, facility, jet bridge, general building maintenance, cleaning, landscaping.
  • Knowledge of Airport procedures employed in preparation, bidding, and awarding of service and maintenance contracts.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills for fixing maintenance issues.
  • Ability to interpret and monitor contract specifications regarding EFS assigned facilities.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and be familiar with the Microsoft Office software suite.
  • Ability to make independent judgements.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing to discuss and resolve maintenance issues.
  • Ability to evaluate records for planning and building inspections.
  • Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records which monitor inconsistencies with contract standards.
  • Ability to present and project a positive image of the department and organization.
  • Ability to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of all physical aspects of the job, including but not limited to dexterity to lift, move, handle equipment, climb ladders, work in physically awkward situations such as bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting; and walking and standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, inclement, and extreme weather environments.

Responsibilities

  • Performing quality checks on HVAC, (MEPS) Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Structural.
  • Responsible for responding and checking security and safety issues.
  • Supervises maintenance contractors to ensure they are upholding facilities maintenance services quality standards, and that customer and service issues are resolved in a manner that exceeds expectations.
  • Responsible for ordering supplies, handling records and scheduling maintenance requests.
  • Responsible for leading and conducting daily quality control and facilities service maintenance contract compliance assessments of ETAM board Managed facilities.
  • Performs regular evaluations of service requests to verify nature and extent of request and verify corrective action and quality of work.
  • Interacts with the appropriate Facilities Service Supervisor to resolve contract performance deficiencies and/or disputes.
  • Enters data, such as maintenance requests, trouble calls, work actions, etc., into the Airport Total Asset Management System.
  • Maintains written reports, logs, and other pertinent documents on inspection and problems of contractor’s work.
  • Assists with training of Quality Control Technicians.
  • After normal working hours, determines the scope of facilities service requests, urgency for correction, and initiates notification of appropriate supervisory staff and call-out of required contractor and/or in-house staff.
  • Briefs the on-coming Lead Quality Control Technician of on-going issues of facilities service requests with current corrective status.
  • Responds on-site immediately to any facilities emergency to assess conditions, brief supervisory staff, and dispatch appropriate repair staff.
