About The Position

The Lead QC Microbiology Analyst – Second Shift is a hands-on laboratory leader responsible for performing routine and non-routine QC microbiology testing while supporting daily operations and providing technical and operational guidance to a team of analysts. This role combines strong microbiological expertise with team leadership, training, and workflow coordination in a cGMP-regulated environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent directly related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industry-based microbiology experience.
  • 3–5 years of prior leadership, lead, or senior analyst experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory setting.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • 3–5 years of experience in a cGMP-regulated QC Microbiology environment.
  • Prior experience leading, training, or mentoring laboratory staff.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with LIMS systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties associated with the QC Microbiology Analyst role in a cGMP environment.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring (EM) and compressed gas sampling of controlled manufacturing areas.
  • Collect water and clean steam samples from manufacturing and utility systems.
  • Perform laboratory investigations and support deviation documentation as required.
  • Manage laboratory supplies, media, and reagent inventory.
  • Perform general laboratory support functions, including housekeeping and organization.
  • Accurately document and track samples and test results using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Schedule and execute weekly, monthly, and quarterly microbiology activities.
  • Maintain compliance with SOPs, safety requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Meet physical demands associated with the role, including lifting up to 25 lbs., standing or walking for extended periods, and handling laboratory equipment.
  • Provide day‑to-day technical guidance and work prioritization for a team of QC Microbiology Analysts.
  • Monitor analyst performance and support adherence to quality, documentation, and productivity expectations.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new hires and cross-training of existing staff.
  • Participate in peer review of microbiological data and laboratory documentation.
  • Support equipment maintenance, calibration coordination, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in interview panels and hiring activities as needed.
  • Assist with overtime and weekend coverage planning to ensure operational continuity.
