About The Position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Standards Project Manager within our Software-Enabled Products, Autonomy & Robotics (SEPAR) program at UL Standards & Engagement. This is a hybrid opportunity based in at any of our locations in Evanston, IL; Raleigh-Durham, NC; Ottawa, Canada. The Lead Standards Project Manager will support a diverse portfolio of standards and lead the development and implementation of safety standards projects to advance the mission of UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) to make the world safer, more secure, and sustainable. The Lead Standards Project Manager will leverage project management expertise to facilitate the development and maintenance of standards, and manage activities throughout the project lifecycle, coordinating interdependencies and driving collaboration across teams to ensure seamless execution and successful project outcomes. What you’ll learn and achieve: As the Lead Standards Project Manager, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you: Lead and manage standards activities to enable the development, implementation and continuous improvement of safety standards. Oversee end-to-end projects, plan and execute activities across the project lifecycle and ensure timely and high-quality deliverables. Serve as a recognized resource for guidance and best practices within the program or technical area. Contribute to the program management associated with assigned standards providing input and recommendations related to portfolio of standards. Forecast project needs and anticipate issues. Develop and apply end-to-end solutions and implement proactive strategies to address complex, undefined and ambiguous challenges. Drive collaboration within the team to ensure team-level goal achievement and enable success in effective execution of standards activities. Facilitate round table discussions and workshops with internal and external stakeholders. Engage in technical committees and other standards-related activities within specific industry sectors or categories. Develop relationships within the broader safety community. Impact and influence the standards development community through work in technical or program area. Identify opportunities for program expansion, ensure the continuous evolution and relevance of safety standards and create capacity for new high-impact standards. Maintain continued awareness of industry trends and external context related to the portfolio. Stay current with regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks governing public safety. Perform other duties as directed. Requirements

  • Broad knowledge of program industry or technical area, with comprehensive understanding of regulatory frameworks and experience navigating and applying industry-specific standards.
  • Strong project management skills, including developing and executing complex project plans, and leading cross-functional project teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to lead project teams and inspire as well as motivate team members to achieve project goals.
  • Expert-level problem-solving skills, able to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions to drive successful outcomes.
  • Ability to define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate project success and guide continuous improvement.
  • Advanced communication and engagement skills, able to develop and implement comprehensive communication and engagement plans, as well as effectively communicate project goals, requirements and progress to various stakeholder groups.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, with ability to communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Positive and collaborative interpersonal skills, with proven capability in fostering collaboration and partnership across teams to develop solutions with broad impact, while establishing effective relationships with others, including senior leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to innovate and adapt in a dynamic industry landscape.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 7 years of related work experience.
  • Experience with project management tools including Salesforce, Wrike or similar applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • PMP or relevant project management certification a plus.
