About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a dedicated professional to lead the implementation of approved and funded projects, including new buildings, alterations, and renovations throughout the University. This role involves managing all phases of projects from design through direct occupancy, ensuring compliance with University standards and contract documents. The position requires managing complex, technologically sophisticated projects and mentoring junior staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for the detailed planning, coordination, and outcome of construction projects, working closely with Planning and Project Management representatives and clients to translate funded programs into reality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of relevant experience required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of construction project management and capital project planning required.
  • Project Management Institute certification preferred upon hire.
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the implementation of approved and funded projects consisting of new buildings, alterations, and renovations.
  • Manages all phases of project from design through direct occupancy.
  • Ensures compliance with University standards and contract documents.
  • Manages complex, technologically sophisticated, multi-end user projects.
  • Participates in the development and review of projects under consideration.
  • Mentors and provides guidance to junior staff.
  • Reviews work for technical adequacy and conformance with practice and policy.
  • Maintains responsibility for detail planning, coordination, and outcome of construction projects.
  • Works with Planning and Project Management representatives and clients to translate funded program into reality.
  • Develops construction documents and challenges functional assumptions and goals.
  • Arranges appropriate review of all project documents with clients and representatives.
  • Determines best method of construction to achieve highest quality product.
  • Manages project budget and solicits/schedules bids for projects.
  • Receives bids, awards contracts, monitors costs, and approves payments.
  • Responsible for close-out of project and final acceptance.
  • Prepares punch lists and ensures contractor compliance.
  • Schedules and implements project warranty review after six and eleven months.
