About The Position

Eaton's Aerospace division is currently seeking a Lead Project Engineer - New Product Development to join our team. This position will be based out of our Los Angeles, CA facility. Eaton LA is a revered supplier for hydraulic flow control devices. We have a varied product line including, but not limited to, nose-wheel steering actuators, landing gear control valves, switching valves, filter modules, etc., for both military and commercial platforms. Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The expected annual salary range for this role is $107812.53 - $158125.04 a year. Salary is dependent upon candidate skillset, education, and work experiences, and can vary based on these factors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum five (5) years of Project Engineering including design experience utilizing 3D CAD software in the aerospace/hydraulic/vehicle industry OR a Master's degree with a minimum of two (2) years in Project Engineering experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience designing hydraulic or pneumatic flow control, or actuation products.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • Must reside within 50 miles of the 90039 Los Angeles zip code.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Experience leading an integrated product team.
  • Experience in the Aerospace Industry.
  • Experience with Pro/Engineer, Enovia PLM, or similar 3D design and lifecycle management software tools.
  • Experience with designing hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical products using advanced manufacturing techniques.
  • Ability to apply Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Ability to perform basic structural and/or performance analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Design for Manufacturability (DfM), FMEA, DOE, and RCCA principles.

Responsibilities

  • Develop designs that meet customer specifications.
  • Serve as the primary interface to the customer and lead the Integrated Product Team (IPT).
  • Collaborate with teams to develop robust designs efficiently.
  • Provide technical design, analysis, and guidance for new product development and product improvements.
  • Work with IPT to design, analyze, and implement product designs and improvements.
  • Lead efforts to solve problems with product design, inspection, manufacturing, and testing.
  • Plan, organize, control, and lead multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Create, update, and interpret project schedules and communicate changes to Engineering Leadership and IPTs.
  • Participate in resolving program change of scope issues.
  • Serve as primary technical contact for multiple cross-functional teams.
  • Create and guide the creation of design standards and technical documents.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to co-workers.
  • Ensure standardization of design and adherence to engineering processes.
  • Collaborate with peers and managers to determine key goals and objectives.
  • Interpret engineering documents and coordinate updates.
  • Lead studies and improvements for cost reduction and first-time yield.
  • Lead cross-functional Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations.
