Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Progress Database Engineer in Consumer Technology as part of Auto Lending. This role involves leading complex database management initiatives, providing technical expertise in database architecture, design, integration, and data modeling, and ensuring the performance and security of OpenEdge RDBMS databases.

  • Lead complex or critical database management initiatives involving multiple disciplines and business groups.
  • Provide technical expertise for planning, research, design, implementation, maintenance, and control of server class databases.
  • Manage installation, patching, configuration, maintenance, and baseline security of OpenEdge RDBMS databases.
  • Monitor and analyze OpenEdge database performance metrics using Virtual System Tables and PROMON utility tool.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of OpenEdge Advance Business Language (ABL) queries.
  • Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies with OpenEdge tool utilities.
  • Diagnose and resolve OpenEdge database related issues promptly, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Design and certify next generation database technologies.
  • Implement and enforce security protocols for OpenEdge database, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Influence OpenEdge database design decisions, offering insights into schema design and optimization to app dev partners.
  • Provide technical leadership and recommendations into the future direction of database technology.
  • 5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 4+ years of strong experience with Open Edge Progress Database Administration.
  • 4+ years of experience with AIX.
  • 4+ years of experience with Cron scripts, Shell scripts, automation scripts.
  • Extensive hands-on cross server/cross OpenEdge Database migrations.
  • Hands-on experience on OpenEdge database audit and archival processes.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with OpenEdge AfterImage Recovery to minimize data loss and downtime in critical scenarios.
  • Strong hands-on Progress Application Server for Openedge (PASOE) configuration, management, maintenance, and upgrade.
  • Strong expertise on business requirements, planning, and design of NFRs to capture critical monitoring and observability for application, business process, and microservices.
  • Strong experience in Site Reliability Engineering - Alerting, Auditability, Monitoring, Recoverability, Performance, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and ops analysis tools such as Splunk, Grafana.
  • Experience utilizing scripting languages to automate routine tasks and streamline operational processes.
  • Well-versed with batch processing tools - (i.e., Autosys, Cron jobs).
