This is an exciting opportunity for a new college graduate or someone with experience who wants to grow their skills! Computing and Information Technology at SUNY Geneseo seeks to hire a Lead Programmer Analyst to join the Information Systems group. The Lead Programmer Analyst analyzes, designs, constructs, tests, documents, and supports software associated with campus administrative information systems. In addition to custom developed software, the position will be responsible for configuration and integration with third party applications. A successful candidate will be able to work on a highly collaborative technical team to solve problems and provide excellent support to the college community with the support of senior developers.

  • Act as lead developer supporting the Banner student information system and other campus management information systems
  • Consult with customers on application requirements, business process improvements, and use of applications
  • Design, develop, test, document, and support database applications that provide business workflows, transactional maintenance, and data integration with third party applications
  • Develop custom reporting and analytics
  • Configure, test, and support third party product modules
  • Interface with third party product support resources to resolve problems
  • Manage projects independently, including planning, scheduling, communication, and effective use of campus request tracking system
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • A minimum of 3 years analysis and programming experience
  • Experience in SQL programming with modern relational databases
  • Demonstrated analysis and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage and complete work independently
  • Provide outstanding customer service and teamwork
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive working/teaching environment
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends on an occasional basis to support critical issues and project upgrades
  • Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship
  • Experience developing web-based applications HTML/CSS/Javascript web-based user interfaces
  • Proficiency with system integration and APIs
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming language(s) such as Java, Groovy, PHP
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner student information system
  • Proficiency with reporting writing tools such as Evisions Argos and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Experience with analytical reporting tools such as PowerBI
  • Experience with Linux/Unix commands and operating system
  • Experience working in Higher Education
  • Flexible hybrid work arrangements may be an option subject to NYS, SUNY and Geneseo rules, regulations and policies
