About The Position

The Lead Program Monitor is responsible for the oversight of security measures/entrance procedures, drug testing and program monitor duties – including but not limited to, drug testing scheduling, transportation, and finding coverage for vacant shifts. S/he will communicate with Center Management on all issues and write reports as needed while ensuring a safe and secure environment for both staff and participants. S/he will ensure that participants enter and exit the Center in an appropriate manner and remain in all assigned areas.

Requirements

  • Possess knowledge of the requisite policies and procedures associated with the collection of urine specimens.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with people in a direct, clear and professional manner.
  • General knowledge about the purpose of a community safety facility; understanding of the goals and objectives of a community correction program and a general familiarity with the court systems.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully and professionally with clients in an empathic way.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with the justice-involved population with diverse backgrounds.
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Some physical effort demanded when performing testing functions under typical office conditions in a correctional setting.
  • Must have visual and auditory acuity in order to maintain security of the center.
  • Must possess an active driver's license and be able to drive/transport individuals using the WCSO van/car.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, talk and hear.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and cover additional shifts as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or similar field preferred.
  • Associates Degree with a minimum of four (4) years experience working in the criminal justice field will be considered.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all monitoring/security operations at the Center.
  • Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage for all program monitor shifts.
  • Find coverage for vacant shifts as needed.
  • Provide direct monitoring of participants in all phases of daily routines, including break periods.
  • Monitor all educational and clinical classes/groups.
  • Maintain accurate communications log entries.
  • Procure, track and preserve urine specimens and perform Breathalyzer samples from participants in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures.
  • Accurately report both urine specimens and Breathalyzer sample test results.
  • Write incident reports as needed and communicate concerns to program management.
  • Responsible for program monitoring on-boarding and on-going trainings for program monitor staff – including but not limited to, drug testing, security measures, entrant procedures, program monitoring duties.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and trainings as directed.
  • Provide transportation in assigned program vehicle when required.
  • Oversee transportation schedule to ensure all needed transportation has coverage.
  • Ensure that program vehicle is properly maintained and up to WCSO standards.
  • Proficient in utilizing de-escalation techniques in order to prevent crisis situations and will provide support and assistance to all staff and/or participants.
  • Provide support and assistance in crisis situations.
  • Maintain work schedule as directed.
  • Support the programming staff with scheduling and any other auxiliary tasks to support the goals of the center.
  • Maintain confidentiality of personal data.
  • Maintain and secure equipment for drug and alcohol collection.
  • Maintain and secure equipment for security/entrance procedures.
  • Perform any duties and tasks assigned by supervisors, and related work as required.
