About The Position

Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of programs and projects in support of GPS business area. Drives program execution to achieve key business and financial objectives for orders, revenue recognition, operating income, and free cash flow for new, continuing, or current programs. Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical, manufacturing and administrative areas. Participate in the negotiation of contracts, preparation of proposals, preparation of business and program plans, development Statements of Work and be responsible for the profit/loss of assigned programs. Acts as primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical performance. Expands the product line with the customer. Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocating resources or changing contractual specifications. Must possess excellent communication/presentation skills and be able to work effectively with diverse personalities and various levels of management. Travel will be required. Essential Functions: Manages large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction. Experience as a Program Manager with DoD-related programs in progressively more responsible technical and program leadership positions. Maintain constant awareness of program objectives, plans, schedules, upcoming events, risks, issues, changes and change-control, and current performance status. Assure customer performance commitments are met, and program assets are effectively managed. Maintain constant vigilance in all day-to-day activities to assure proactive management of risk, issues, and changes. Extensively analyzes problems to seek understanding of the root cause of the problem. Ensure compliance with internal program procedures and project control system guidelines. Communicates within and outside of the organization which includes larger customers or vendors. Ability to travel, approximately 30% annually. US Citizenship is required for this position. Security Clearance is required for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of prior program management, proposal management and EVMS experience
  • Minimum 3 years aerospace and defense industry experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience leading development, transition to production, and full rate production programs required.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance is required for this position.
  • US Citizenship is required for this position.
  • Security Clearance is required for this position.
  • Ability to travel, approximately 30% annually.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal training in Project Management, including PMP certification is preferred.
  • Ability to construct and manage to a WBS & SOW.
  • Develop integrated master schedules using IMP, SOW and WBS.
  • Perform Critical Path Analysis, Schedule Risk Analysis, and Schedule Metric Analysis.
  • Advance knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems and Risk and Opportunity Analysis.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with frequent demanding deadlines.
