About The Position

The Lead Program Counselor role at Marrakech is dedicated to supporting individuals to lead lives of their own design, valuing each person for their inherent worth. This position involves comprehensive direct care, program implementation, and environmental management. Key responsibilities include overseeing food purchases to meet dietary needs, implementing teaching strategies and fostering teamwork to achieve individual program goals, and developing daily schedules focused on living skills and community experiences. The counselor provides direct medical, dietary, hygienic, and behavioral support, ensures a safe and clean environment, and maintains agency property. Additionally, the role requires managing appointments, ensuring compliance with licensing requirements, completing documentation, providing physical support, implementing behavioral programs, and utilizing adaptive equipment.

Requirements

A high school diploma/GED with one year of relevant experience.
Valid CT Driver's License
Department of Developmental Services medication certification
Public Service License (if applicable)
CPR and First Aid certification
PMT certification

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree in Human Services, Special Education, or related field

Responsibilities

Oversee food purchases, ensuring dietary needs are met for individuals.
Implement incidental teaching and facilitate teamwork to achieve individual program goals.
Develop and implement daily schedules that focus on daily living skills and community experiences; coordinate in-house recreation and outings based on individual interests.
Provide comprehensive care, including medical, dietary, hygienic, and behavioral support.
Ensure a safe, clean, and orderly work environment; maintain agency property effectively.
Maintain calendars for medical appointments, staff schedules, and program implementation; follow up on medical recommendations and ensure meaningful recreational activities are offered.
Adhere to personnel policies and procedures; ensure compliance with licensing requirements.
Complete monthly program reviews and maintain accurate documentation, including case notes, incident reports, and safety logs.
Lift, transfer, and position individuals as necessary, following service plans.
Implement daily behavioral and goal programs, and conduct Physical/Psychological Management Training as required.
Use and maintain adaptive devices, including hoyer lifts, wheelchairs, and medical tubes.
