About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Lead Product Engineer - New Product Introduction. This role is located our of our facility in Sumter, SC. We are able to offer relocation assistance for qualified candidates within the United States. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the achievement of launching New Products in each of our Eaton Panelboard and Switchboard product line operations. They will incorporate best-in-class systems and features through collaboration with the Design team and each of the Operational Excellence teams. This role is also responsible for providing manufacturing expertise on switchboard and panelboard products. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer is also responsible for developing method sheets, shop floor layout, tool acquisition, and training at each of the nineteen Panelboard and Switchboard operational sites (Sumter, Juarez, El Paso, and 16 Satellites) with regard to each new product being introduced. The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience using CAD software (i.e., AutoCAD, Inventor).

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Understanding and use of lean tools.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Why, and A3) used to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% (monthly visits to El Paso, TX).
  • Expected to work with some degree of independence and make decisions that affect the workgroup.
  • Focus efforts on attaining assigned goals and objectives, which include meeting needs and expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to successfully manage multiple priorities, analyze complex problems and implement solutions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers and company personnel at all management, professional, and technical levels.
  • This position requires a high level of responsiveness and proactive problem solving to reinforce enterprise wide goal of providing world class customer satisfaction.
  • Must be team oriented and self-starter with strong multi-tasking and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, electronics engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2 years of design experience with UL 50, UL 67, and UL 891.
  • Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt

Responsibilities

  • Lead the manufacturing integration of each new product introduction, ensuring that the launch at each site follows identical best practices.
  • Apply lean manufacturing techniques to eliminate waste in product and process designs, while delivering products that meet customers' expectations.
  • Develop engineering and process control documentation for manufacturing (PFMEA/control plans, standardized methods sheets, etc.).
  • Coordinate project and CI activities with the manufacturing teams at Sumter, El Paso, and satellite facilities.
  • Lead formulation of manufacturing documentation, standard work sheets, control plans, and production area layouts.
  • Conduct time studies to establish or verify labor standards.
  • Conduct training for each function at both the Sumter and El Paso facilities.
  • Monitor, record, and improve KPI metrics at each site pre and post launch to ensure smooth product launches.
