About The Position

The Alexandria Area YMCA is seeking a passionate, experienced Lead Preschool Teacher to join our YMCA Child Care team at Vivie. As our Lead Preschool Teacher, you will work closely with the Child Care Director to create a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Requirements

Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience working with young children (assistant teacher, student teacher, or similar roles preferred)
Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices
Experience developing and implementing curriculum
CPR & First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
Ability to pass background checks and meet state licensing requirements
A patient, compassionate, and positive leadership style

Responsibilities

Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that support physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth
Create and manage a structured daily schedule including learning activities, play, meals, and rest
Provide active supervision and ensure a safe, nurturing environment
Communicate consistently and positively with families, including daily updates
Lead and support assistant teachers and classroom aides
Maintain licensing compliance and YMCA standards
