Eaton’s Electrical Critical Power Solutions Division is currently seeking a Lead Power Electronics Engineer to join our team in Raleigh, NC. This position will be a hybrid office (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) role as long as you live within 50 miles of our Raleigh, NC facility. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. What you’ll do: As a Lead Power Electronics Engineer you will support our product development and design of our high-power three-phase UPS’s. This role also supports products in our Energy Storage and EV charging product lines. The role includes all aspects of product design life cycle from concept to production as part of a global, dynamic, multi-disciplinary team. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 5 years work experience in power electronics (circuit design or schematic capture, PCB layout, circuit review or circuit analysis).
  • OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years work experience in power electronics (circuit design or schematic capture, PCB layout, circuit review or circuit analysis).
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with schematic entry and PCB design tools like Altium, Cadence, etc.
  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Experience applying digital control and algorithms to power electronics systems.
  • Understanding of Magnetics Design for high frequency Power Electronics.
  • Ability to simulate, analyze, troubleshoot using HIL systems.
  • Competent with Matlab/Simulink/PLECS and PSPICE.
  • Analyze and simulate power electronics systems from board level to complex products.
  • Understanding of layout design principles.
  • Work in lab environment around high voltage where safety awareness is critical.
  • Excellent verbal/ written communications.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully launch critical power infrastructure products that meet customer requirements and Eaton safety, quality, reliability, cost and schedule commitments.
  • Work with cross-functional engineering team to design and develop new products including SiC three-phase UPS's from 500kW to 2.5MW and Lithium Ion 1MW and larger energy storage systems for maintaining critical loads such as datacenters and hospitals.
  • Leverage your skill and experience by giving guidance and leadership to other technical project team members.
  • Work with global product development teams to solve problems related to performance, functionality, safety, reliability, quality and component availability.
  • Lead product DVT and validation testing in the lab with a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Support prototype build, testing and delivery of products to the customer.
