About The Position

Urgently hiring for a Lead Porter position in Hackensack at the Bergen County Shelter. Ideal candidates must be friendly, be a self-starter, and able to provide direction to other porters. The lead porter will be responsible for overseeing porters who are performing a variety of janitorial tasks to ensure occupants a clean and safe environment. This is a working porter position, not just supervisory.

SHIFT: Wednesday (8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.) and Sunday (8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.)

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years previous janitorial experience.
• Minimum 1 year supervisory experience.
• Ability to handle multiple projects.
• MUST have reliable transportation to and from the work site.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains cleanliness of offices and lobby floors, windows, doors and walls.
• Cleans and maintains cleanliness of restrooms; includes floors, sinks, counters, commodes and fixtures.
• Clean and maintains cleanliness of elevators and/or stairwells.
• Monitor the interior and exterior of the building and grounds during the day to make certain the grounds and common areas are free of debris.
• Empty garbage containers in common areas, offices, classrooms and restrooms ensuring general areas are free of litter.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
