About The Position

Join WSP and contribute to designing innovative plumbing systems for complex building projects. We are seeking a Lead Plumbing Designer who is passionate about delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions that meet client objectives and industry standards. This role will be supporting our Denver, CO office with the opportunity to work remotely from Houston, TX.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
  • 11+ years of experience in plumbing design for building systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with plumbing codes and standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes and standards (IPC, UPC, IFGC, NPFA 99, FGI, USP 800, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with healthcare, industrial, pharma, tech, or large-scale commercial facilities.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and LEED certification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and layout of plumbing systems for facilities projects, including potable water, sanitary, storm, and specialty systems for various project types.
  • Prepare detailed drawings and cost estimates using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Regularly review and apply client-specific and internal drafting standards to ensure full compliance and consistently high‑quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated and efficient designs.
  • Understand and strictly follow established quality control protocols—ensuring all drafting work complies with documented QA/QC procedures, verification steps, and corrective‑action requirements.
  • Support project development from concept through construction, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Incorporate future-ready solutions and sustainable practices into plumbing designs.
  • Participate in site surveys and inspections to verify existing conditions and support design accuracy.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and best practices in plumbing design.
