About The Position

The City of Greeley is seeking a Lead Operator for the Boyd Lake Water Treatment Plant, a 38 MGD direct filtration facility in Loveland, Colorado. This role involves both supervisory and technical responsibilities, focusing on the operation, maintenance, and optimization of the plant's processes. The Lead Operator will work seasonally from April to October, with off-season duties including maintenance projects and preventative maintenance. The position requires collaboration with a team and direct reporting to the Boyd Lake Superintendent.

Requirements

  • Valid and current driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in operation of a water treatment plant.
  • State of Colorado Water Class 'A' Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification.
  • Experience completing and filing monthly reports with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).
  • At least one (1) year of team leader or supervisory experience.

Nice To Haves

  • At least five (5) years of water treatment experience.
  • At least two (2) years of team leader or supervisory experience leading teams.
  • Knowledge of and experience using CityWorks or similar work management system.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and optimize all aspects of the Boyd Lake Water Treatment Plant.
  • Perform daily record keeping, water quality sampling, and routine laboratory analyses.
  • Prepare routine reports or correspondence related to plant operations.
  • Schedule project activities on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Communicate effectively with state and federal agencies, coworkers, and the public.
  • Investigate complaints regarding operational activities and handle difficult situations with good judgment.
  • Administer performance appraisals and approve timecards for staff.
  • Plan, organize, supervise, and schedule resources to meet program and service goals.
  • Hire, train, motivate, and coach employees, providing timely feedback and training opportunities.
