Part of Piedmont Healthcare network of hospitals and radiation oncology centers in GA. Responsibilities RESPONSIBLE FOR: Provides physics services related to the planning and delivery of therapeutic radiation treatment in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription. Provides technical leadership including clinical set-up expertise to radiation oncologists, dosimetrists and therapists. Performs quality assurance checks according to regulatory requirements and industry standards for all department equipment. Serves as a mentor and team lead for staff medical physicists. Reports to the Manager for Radiation Physics. Core Responsibilities: The lead physicist along with 2 other staff physicists will oversee all technical aspects of radiation oncology services, including treatment equipment, treatment planning systems, treatment delivery, and ancillary equipment and systems. Develop and maintain an effective program of quality assurance for radiation oncology equipment and software applications including CT simulation, treatment planning, machine calibration, and performance of all related equipment. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, professional, and national standards. Server as a resource and participate in routine patient-related clinical procedures, including simulation, treatment planning and weekly patient chart reviews. Supervise physics and dosimetry staff, ensuring appropriate resource allocation and professional development. Provide input and guidance on equipment procurement, evaluation of new treatment technologies, regulatory compliance, and billing practices.
