About The Position

The critical care Lead PA will manage a staff of 6 FTEs responsible for 24/7 coverage of an adult medical/surgical ICU. The lead PA will work 2/3 clinical and 1/3 admin time. Work schedule will include days, nights and weekends Administrative Responsibilities include: Recruitment and hiring Preparing work schedules Reporting payroll Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures Assists with administrative issues Supervise and validate staff PA performance. Clinical Responsibilities include: Documentation of patient health histories and complete physical examinations Formulate and implement treatment plan for acute illness management in collaboration with the supervising physician Assess patients’ change in status and institute appropriate interventions Initiate necessary emergency interventions to stabilize patients Provide family centered care, communicating with family regarding the changing health care needs of their family members Perform approved diagnostic therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based on the patient’s clinical status

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant school
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Prior Experience in Critical Care required
  • Registered as a Physician's Assistant in New York
  • ACLS/BLS/Infection Control
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment with members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care
