About The Position

The Lead Physical Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with physical impairments and mobility challenges. This role involves assessing and treating physical impairments, creating individualized care plans, and utilizing evidence-based techniques to optimize patient recovery and mobility. The Lead Physical Therapist collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team to deliver cohesive patient care, educates patients and caregivers, and provides guidance on safe mobility and exercise strategies for home use. In addition, the Lead Physical Therapist mentors staff, oversees student externships, conducts annual competency evaluations, and ensures compliance with hospital policies and patient confidentiality regulations. The role also involves contributing to departmental goals and maintaining high standards of care. In addition to patient care, the Lead Physical Therapist oversees scheduling and staffing to meet patient needs, including weekends and holidays. This role includes mentoring team members, completing skills checklists for new hires, conducting annual competency assessments, and providing input for performance evaluations. The Lead Physical Therapist also supervises student externships, ensuring clinical rotations are productive and enriching. The Lead Physical Therapist actively participates in unit and departmental meetings, leads discipline-specific discussions, and contributes to committees focused on service excellence and employee engagement. Collaborating with leadership, this role assists in the procurement of capital equipment and ensures adherence to hospital policies, safety protocols, and legal standards. By fostering a culture of professional growth, collaboration, and excellence, the Lead Physical Therapist ensures the delivery of comprehensive, patient-focused care. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Vocational/Technical School/Diploma preferred.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Doctoral Degree preferred.
  • State of Florida Physical Therapist License required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years patient care experience required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year Manatee Health experience required.
