About The Position

Lead Pharmacy Technician St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati (SVDP) has served residents of Greater Cincinnati for over 150 years with basic needs such as food, medicine, and homelessness prevention through its outreach center in the West End and 53 parish-based volunteer Conferences. SVDP provides holistic direct assistance and systemic change services while treating neighbors in need with dignity and compassion. Scope of Position: The Lead Pharmacy Technician is essential to the mission of providing free prescription medication to low-income neighbors in need. This position performs functions related to the safe dispensing of prescription medications in an out-patient community pharmacy and procurement of medication donations in accordance with Ohio pharmacy law.

Requirements

  • Maintain active certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or registered pharmacy technician licensure and Ohio Board of Pharmacy registration with at least 5 years of related work experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral skills.
  • Experience with pharmacy databases.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds in a faith-based setting.

Responsibilities

  • Process and fill prescriptions.
  • Accurately and efficiently enter prescription information into pharmacy database, fill new and refill prescriptions, and check out prescriptions with an offer to counsel with a pharmacist, no insurance billing or controlled substance dispensing.
  • Maintain drug inventories.
  • Check-in medication orders according to policy and procedures, optimize utilization of various drug inventories, organize pharmacy storage of medication and medical devices.
  • Procure medication donations.
  • Collaborate with a team to complete applications for Patient Assistance Programs, assist in procurement of medication donations from community members.
  • Certify patients for Charitable Pharmacy services.
  • Assist Patient Advocacy Manager in scheduling certification appointments and performing appointment reminder calls, obtain complete information to accurately certify patients based on approved policies and procedures, connect patients to necessary resources and advocate to fulfill patient-specific needs.
