About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor at PharMerica is responsible for overseeing the workflow and performance of Pharmacy Technicians in a closed-door pharmacy environment. This role focuses on ensuring exceptional customer service and meeting the pharmaceutical needs of long-term care and senior living clients. The position requires an Indiana pharmacy license and involves both supervisory and hands-on responsibilities in medication preparation and compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in a long-term care (LTC) pharmacy setting required.
  • Basic understanding of drugs, medication terminology, and metric system required.
  • Ability to operate a computer required.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in orientation, training, competency assessment, and evaluation of Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Monitors workflow and reassigns Pharmacy Technicians as needed.
  • Prepares Pharmacy Technician schedules to meet the needs of the pharmacy.
  • Fills prescription items, packaging medications for dispensing and delivery, meeting accuracy and productivity standards.
  • Prepares medications including emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments, which may include non-sterile compounding.
  • Works in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room and with automated machines to prepack drugs.
  • Manages inventory functions such as monitoring pharmaceutical levels and identifying expired medications.
  • Inputs patient data and medication orders into a computer system to produce labels.
  • Mixes/packages IV medications, sanitizes IV room, equipment, and hood.
  • Services facility-based medication dispensing machines (e.g., RxNow).
  • Communicates with internal and external customers in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Ensures technician adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
