As a full time, nonexempt Lead Pharmacy Technician/Buyer, you will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; performing order entry; procuring drugs; billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements. Schedule: This full-time, nonexempt position will work up to 40 hours/week in a variety of shifts. Location: Coast Plaza Doctor’s Hospital in Norwalk, CA offers 117 licensed beds, including a 37-bed Behavioral Health unit, and a complete in-house range of Emergency Department Services 24/7. Pharmacy Hours: The pharmacy utilizes CPOE and ADC-Pyxis with Pyxis automation/software. Pharmacy hours are Monday – 7:00am-8:30pm; Tuesday-Friday – 7:30am-8:30pm; and Saturday & Sunday – 8:00am-4:30pm. Remote pharmacy services are provided overnight and after these listed pharmacy hours. Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current California certified pharmacy technician license in good standing
- IV and compounding experience required
- Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office
- Proven effective communication skills; verbal and written

- 2+ years of Pharmacy Technician experience
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
- Prepare and compound medications (including IV admixtures and sterile products) following hospital protocols and USP standards
- Process medication orders from electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) with accuracy and urgency
- Deliver medications to patient care areas, including automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) and nursing units
- Maintain medication inventory by restocking, tracking controlled substances, and monitoring expiration dates
- Support medication safety initiatives, including double-checks, labeling, and documentation
- Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and clinical staff to ensure timely and safe medication delivery
- Coordinate and support hospital policies and regulatory standards, including Joint Commission and state/federal regulations by ensuring pharmacy technician staff complete relevant competencies
- Ensure inventory management is optimized and purchasing contracts are compliant
- Monitor and coordinate drug recall and drug shortage processes
- Procure medications to meet inventory needs and communicate market changes to drug access and availability
