As a Lead Patient Transporter, you will provide exceptional service to patients and support team members, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations. This role involves working closely with management to advance organizational objectives and achieve departmental goals for staff and supervisors. Key responsibilities include coordinating and performing tasks related to the safe and timely transportation of patients and equipment. The position operates evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m., with every other weekend rotation and holiday requirements. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience as a Patient Transporter in a medical setting or experience in a hospital setting with patient throughput systems
  • Successfully complete training in the applicable Patient Transport software application within 30 days, including Patient Transport and Reporting module.
  • Complete three months of on-the-job training to learn multiple hospital and clinic locations, special procedures, patient and safety emergency procedures and proper body mechanics to safely move patients.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors employees in daily operations.
  • Provides orientation, education and training for new hires.

  • Identifies opportunities to improve productivity, quality and effectiveness of processes.
  • Transports patients to and from clinical, ancillary and support areas via wheelchair, stretcher or beds as requested to include transport of patients with oxygen tanks, intravenous pumps, drips and special equipment.
  • With assistance, transfer patients to or from beds, wheelchairs or stretchers as needed.
  • Transports patients to hospital lobby and open doors during the patient discharge process.
  • Approaches, greets and offers assistance and direction to patients and visitors in the hospital environment.
  • Communicates to nursing personnel, clinician, technician or receptionist of patient's arrival and departure.
  • Verifies correct patient identification by comparing information from pager to patient wristband; obtains correct medical chart; verifies proper mode of transportation and confirms standard precautions.
  • Disinfects and maintains par levels of equipment throughout the hospital.
  • Identifies malfunctioning ambulatory equipment and reports to appropriate department for repair or replacement.
  • Rounds throughout the hospital environment for departmental equipment and delivers to the appropriate staging area.
  • Collects pertinent information and reports patient complaints to the appropriate clinician/Supervisor/Manager.
