About The Position

The Patient Financial Advocate Lead will be responsible for overseeing hospital admissions and ensuring a smooth workflow that complies with policies and procedures. Additionally, the lead will train and supervise a team of Patient Financial Advocates to provide an exceptional healthcare experience and maintain accurate documentation during patient registrations. This role involves analyzing current processes, identifying areas for improvement, and working closely with the Business Office Manager and Revenue Cycle Director to develop and implement new workflows to reduce billing errors and streamline processes.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of hospital admissions, focusing on accurate patient check-in and proper documentation scanning.
  • Ensure effective communications with the Emergency Department by attending morning huddles and managing inpatient notifications.
  • Maintain the bed board, review it daily, and track the status of patients being admitted or discharged.
  • Coordinate coverage for hospital admissions and create schedules to ensure all necessary shifts are filled.
  • Act as a liaison between patient financial advocates and the business office to streamline processes within the revenue cycle.
  • Supervise operations of 'shift 3' to ensure accurate registrations and timely completion of outpatient procedure packets.
  • Oversee cleanliness and organization of the workspace, managing inventory and ordering supplies.
  • Manage and maintain petty cash for the hospital and business office, ensuring accurate transaction records.
  • Conduct weekly reviews of missing documentation and rectify registration errors for accurate billing.
  • Monitor the call log to ensure accurate logging of voicemails for billing review.
  • Oversee hospital mail collection, sorting, and organization according to established policies.
  • Provide employee training and feedback to ensure advocates excel in their duties.
  • Perform additional duties as required by superiors, including new projects and assisting team members.
  • Enroll in HMFA Patient Access and Revenue Cycle courses for ongoing professional development.
