About The Position

The Lead Patient Access Representative will help coordinate all aspects of Patient Access to ensure a customer-focused, quality-conscious work climate. This position's primary function is to assess the educational needs of the department and individual team members. The Lead is responsible for onboarding new hires, developing training materials, providing statistical data to leadership, completing team member audits, and providing coverage in patient access areas. The Lead will act as a liaison for team members and supervisors, serving as the first point of contact for process and procedural concerns. This role requires participation in an on-call rotation within the department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare/medical office environment
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including email, face-to-face patient and co-worker interactions as well as professional phone skills
  • General knowledge of patient accounts
  • Knowledge of registration requirements
  • Working knowledge of billing/insurance requirements
  • Knowledge of insurance requirements including: pre-certification, insurance verification, pre-registration and scheduling
  • Ability to interact well with all types of customers
  • Ability to develop and implement new processes
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
