About The Position

This position will maintain instructional methodology consistent with YTI Career Institute's learning model and to tailor course materials to the learning styles and needs of individual students that will ultimately cause students to develop employable skills leading them to jobs that are commensurate with student ability and employer expectation. In addition, to facilitate a quality, career-oriented program, which prepares students for employment and advancement in their chosen career field. Intiail shift coverage: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, must be flexible with evenings and occiasional Saturdays as needed.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Pastry Arts or Culinary Arts preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in the Pastry Arts field required.
  • Serv-Safe Manager, Instructor and Proctor Certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years of pastry instructor experience preferred.
  • ACF certification preferred.
  • CHEP Teacher certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction for assigned courses. This includes preparation, in-class activities, classroom management, evaluation of students' work, consultation with students outside of class, remaining up to date in the subjects taught and other efforts related to the teaching of the assigned classes
  • Maintain accurate class and other records
  • Submit, when due, all necessary reports: attendance, grade reports, rosters and class schedules
  • Follow course syllabi and outlines
  • Maintain work hours in addition to instructional time to post attendance, and provide academic and career advising
  • Observe, support and enforce the regulations, policies and programs of the school
  • Refer students to appropriate resources
  • Participate and attend school functions and activities
  • Contribute to curriculum and program reviews
  • Attend graduations, orientations, open houses, and other formal student activities
  • Serve as role model for new faculty
  • Attend advisory board meetings
  • Serve as product knowledge expert
  • Teach the Sanitation, Externship, Career Success Seminar and Professional Development courses when appropriate
  • Serve as the Externship coordinator for Pastry students
  • Conduct peer classroom observations
  • Daily review and follow-up on absent students
  • Assist with advising sessions with restart and other at-risk students
  • Serve as mentor for new faculty in any program area
  • Serve as Academic Advisor for all Pastry Students
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding and coaching new pastry faculty members
  • Assist with program specific in-services
  • Assist with pastry faculty scheduling and term course assignments
  • Assist Program Director and/or Campus Director with communication to students/parents and assist with timely resolution of concerns/issues
  • Assign faculty to continuing education courses
  • Onboard new Pastry Arts faculty
  • Assist in maintaining program supplies and equipment and the procurement of materials
  • Active participation in advisory board meetings
  • Participate in curriculum reviews
  • Conduct product knowledge trainings
  • Fill in during program manager absences
  • Maintain current inventory lists
  • Coordinate with the admissions team to assist with campus tours for potential students.
  • Network with area organizations and charities for opportunities for student involvement in community service events
  • Represent YTI and the program by serving on local committees; providing student demonstrations; serving as a professional evaluator for Skills USA or Pro Start events.
