About The Position

Damascus Baptist Church is prayerfully seeking a Lead Pastor who will serve as the spiritual shepherd of our congregation. The Lead Pastor is responsible for preaching the Word of God, overseeing the daily ministry of the church, providing Biblical teaching and counsel, and guiding the Body of Christ to fulfill the Great Commission—making disciples and equipping believers to live out their faith. (Matthew 28:19-20) Personal Characteristics We are seeking a pastor who: Has a clear and compelling testimony of personal salvation, marked by spiritual maturity and a deep walk with Christ. Demonstrates integrity, humility, and godly character in every aspect of life. Possesses a servant's heart and a genuine love for people of all ages and backgrounds. Leads with compassion, wisdom, and a passion for the Word of God. About Damascus Baptist Church Founded in 1820, Damascus Baptist Church has a rich heritage of faithfulness and service in the Appling, Georgia community. In 2025, we joyfully celebrated 205 years of God's goodness and provision. In recent years, God has brought vibrant growth to our congregation—welcoming over 140 new members and celebrating 40 professions of faith. What was once an older congregation has now become a thriving, multi-generational church filled with families, children, youth, and seniors worshiping together. We are financially strong, mission-minded, and committed to reaching our community with the love of Christ. Our prayer is that God will lead a pastor to Damascus who will help us continue to grow deeper in faith, stronger in unity, and bolder in sharing the Gospel through preaching, prayer, discipleship, and service. Requirements

• Undergraduate degree - required
• Doctrinal alignment with the Baptist Faith & Message (2000)
• Proven ability to prepare and deliver sound, Spirit-led preaching and teaching
• Demonstrated support for and involvement in missions and evangelism
• Experience ministering in a multi-generational congregation
• Has a clear and compelling testimony of personal salvation, marked by spiritual maturity and a deep walk with Christ.
• Demonstrates integrity, humility, and godly character in every aspect of life.
• Possesses a servant's heart and a genuine love for people of all ages and backgrounds.
• Leads with compassion, wisdom, and a passion for the Word of God.

Nice To Haves

• Master of Divinity (or comparable theological degree from an accredited conservative seminary) - preferred
