About The Position

The Lead Parts & Inventory Specialist provides multi‑site leadership and oversight for all maintenance storeroom and parts inventory operations within BlueScope Recycling. This role ensures consistent processes, accurate inventory management, and reliable availability of critical parts across all locations. With a strong focus on leadership, organizational excellence, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional partnership, this position plays a key role in reducing downtime, supporting safe and efficient operations, and standardizing storeroom practices companywide. Regular travel to each site is required to provide hands‑on leadership, alignment, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related experience, or High School Diploma with 8+ years of experience in inventory, maintenance, or industrial operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supporting multi‑site teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High attention to detail with demonstrated ability to use data and analytics to drive decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong technical knowledge related to industry parts, plant operations, procurement processes and project management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CMMS/ERP systems, and standard office equipment.
  • Inventory management of parts experience is preferred
  • Inventory cycle counting experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop Parts Clerks through coaching, training, performance feedback, and regular on‑site visits to reinforce standards and safety.
  • Oversee receiving, stocking, issuing, and tracking of maintenance parts and supplies across locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels in the inventory management system and ensure compliance with BlueScope standards.
  • Manage routine cycle counts and annual physical inventories across all sites.
  • Use data analysis to identify and address obsolete, excess, or slow‑moving inventory.
  • Ensure storeroom organization, labeling, and layouts align with BlueScope best practices.
  • Develop and implement standardized stocking strategies, reorder points, and replenishment practices.
  • Document and maintain standardized procedures and work instructions for all storerooms.
  • Conduct spare‑parts criticality assessments to support stocking decisions and reduce downtime.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and availability.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Operations, and Procurement leaders to support maintenance needs and resolve issues.
  • Provide responsive internal customer service that supports plant reliability.
  • Build and manage vendor relationships while monitoring deliveries and resolve discrepancies or quality concerns.
  • Lead supplier initiatives that improve efficiency, reduce cost, and mitigate supply risk.
  • Create and analyze inventory and purchasing reports, including KPIs, to support informed decision‑making.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of parts usage, transactions, and costs to support budgeting and cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies, PPE requirements, and operating standards across locations.
  • Travel regularly to all sites to support team leadership, alignment, and ongoing improvement.
