About The Position

This position is responsible for the precision assembly, wiring, and testing of complex UL508A-certified industrial control panels used in Industrial Heat Treating and Non-Ferrous Melting equipment as well as overseeing and directing the work of others in the department by performing the following duties: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Complete required UL508A panel construction by planning and performing work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic theories and principles, written specifications, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment. This includes strict adherence to UL508A standards for component spacing, wire sizing, grounding, and documentation. Strong attention to detail in wire routing and component placement. The ability to assemble electrical/electronic systems and components according to schematics and component layout drawings. Ability to deliver assemblies with an exceptional degree of quality and professionalism. Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic theories and principles, written specifications, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment. Work with engineering to coordinate design and resolve layout issues. Assist test/service personnel with complex technical troubleshooting and diagnostics. Assist test/service personnel with technical troubleshooting Cut-out and prepare enclosures to layout drawings with exceptional precision, maintaining minimum tolerances. Lay out, mount, and meticulously wire industrial electrical, electronic, and pneumatic components (including PLCs, VFDs, power distribution, and thermal control components) to electrical schematics. Wire routing and termination must demonstrate a high degree of quality and neatness. Install conduit and complete all necessary wiring on capital equipment on the shop floor. Ability to program Honeywell and Allen Bradley PLCs. Must be able to work overtime on an as-needed basis to maintain production deadlines. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or an accredited apprenticeship program, or the equivalent training/experience in an electrical/electronic technical field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of recent, verifiable experience in industrial control panel building, preferably involving UL508A standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and through schematics with engineering personnel and test/service personnel
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic computer skills are required to retrieve information.
  • Electrical training certificate, especially working with high voltage power.
  • Thorough knowledge of assembly of electrical/electronic components and equipment, strong experience using test instruments for diagnostic purposes and a high degree of precision working with minimum tolerances.
