About The Position

The mission of the Packaging Team Lead in ensuring that all packaging lines are efficient and productive. Their goal is to deliver the best quality product to our customers in an efficient and timely manner. They will be a mentor to the line leads, forklift operators, and operators and will focus on increasing the skills and capabilities of the team. The Packaging Team Lead will ensure the packaging lines operate in accordance to company policy and standards and runs at or above demonstrated rates resulting in consistently meeting or exceeding targeted pallet and performance targets. They will work with the Line Lead on building a successful team. An adaptable teammate, the Packaging Team Lead may be called on to operate various stations on a specific line and / or other packing lines, and drive a forklift as needed. As with any position within the company, the role embraces a strong commitment to safety as a core value, ensures compliance with all applicable Federal/State Regulations and Oil Dri's Health/Safety/Environmental practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work according to established safety rules and practices, environmental and housekeeping standards while striving for ZERO Accidents
  • Maintains and follows good housekeeping standards. Keeps their work area, and all areas, clean, organized, and free of clutter
  • Daily plant walks of your areas are mandatory and findings are to be reported out (housekeeping, work order entries, projects, etc.)
  • Five and a half hours of your shift is to be on the floor assisting our team mates. One hour at the beginning and one hour at the end of your shift for desk work (checking emails, inventory variance, customer feedbacks, review team mate files, etc.)
  • Startup and shutdown of their station or line as needed and in accordance with documented SOP's when available
  • Operate and provide basic troubleshooting of their assigned station or line
  • Perform routine maintenance checks and pre-shift inspections
  • Report issues to team as they arise
  • Quality checks of their station or line in accordance with documented SOPs
  • Maintain relevant documentation as request by team lead or required by SOPs
  • Assist in daily / monthly cycle counts and inventory activities
  • Work to reduce or eliminate waste anywhere and everywhere possible (Lean)
  • Assist other stations, lines and warehouse employees as needed or directed
  • Monitor all packaging lines and operators
  • Complete pass down communication of all production lines that occurred on your shift to ensure proper handoff to the next shift
  • Assist leadership in evaluating operators
  • Fill in for operators when needed to ensure production continues
  • Work with leadership to build and maintain a strong team
