As a Lead Oracle Database Engineer, you will be responsible for handling critical production Oracle databases and will require additional database technology knowledge. This role involves proactive monitoring of database performance, troubleshooting issues, and working cross-functionally with engineers and analytics professionals to optimize queries and improve existing schemas. You will also be responsible for creating and maintaining change control processes, reviewing database modifications, and implementing database changes as per application release activities. Your expertise will help improve database practices company-wide, and knowledge of Oracle and Redis will be beneficial.

  • Proactively monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineers and analytics professionals to optimize queries and fix performance bottlenecks.
  • Create and maintain change control and testing processes, reviewing and approving database modifications.
  • Review development and deployment processes related to databases and identify areas of improvement.
  • Implement database changes and modifications as per application release activities.
  • Perform database patching, upgrades, and implement best practices on databases.
  • Improve database expertise company-wide.
  • Postgres DBA experience in a 24x7 production environment.
  • 7+ years of database management and engineering experience.
  • Experience architecting large-scale production database platforms.
  • Expertise with Oracle system metrics and optimization strategies.
  • Familiarity with system level metrics and practical use of common Linux utilities.
  • Understanding of virtualization and clustered environments.
  • Great communication skills and a passion for both teaching and learning.
  • Additional knowledge of Oracle and Redis.
