About The Position

We are seeking a Lead Ophthalmic Technician to provide day‑to‑day leadership and coordination within the Eye Care department. This role is responsible for directing and supporting ophthalmic technicians in the performance of their duties, assisting with training, coordinating schedules, and ensuring proper patient flow to support timely, high‑quality care. The Lead Ophthalmic Technician plays a key role in maintaining clinical operations by overseeing exam room readiness, managing clinical supply inventory, supporting contact lens services, and ensuring equipment and medication safety standards are met. This position works closely with the Ophthalmic Technician Supervisor and optometrists to ensure smooth clinic operations and an excellent patient experience.

Requirements

Associate's degree from an accredited two-year college or technical school, or equivalent education and experience
Minimum of three years of experience in an ophthalmic or eye care setting preferred
Demonstrated experience assisting optometrists with clinical workflows and patient care
Ability to coordinate schedules and support patient flow in a busy clinical environment
Strong working knowledge of ophthalmic instruments and equipment
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and staff
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Nice To Haves

Certification as CPO, CPOA, CPOT, or COT
Experience training or mentoring ophthalmic technicians
Experience managing clinical supply inventory and ordering
Experience assisting with contact lens education, fittings, and inventory management
Ability to step in as an ophthalmic or optical technician when staffing needs require
Strong knowledge of medical terminology and eye care procedures
