REVELxp is the exclusive tailgate partner for the University of Kentucky football program and Keeneland Racecourse (Lexington, KY) and provides full-service tailgates for clients at multiple sites around each facility. Game day staff is vital to the smooth operation of each game and race day, as members of the staff represent the REVELxp brand while providing assistance, hospitality, and customer service to each tailgating guest. The REVELxp Lexington office is looking for an individual to fill the role of Lead Operations Intern for the 2026 Keeneland Spring Meet. The intern must be a determined individual with a strong desire to build a career in the sports and hospitality industry. They will be expected to assist the Event Manager and General Manager at Keeneland in executing tailgate site activations throughout April, with possible additional responsibilities in preparing for race days and managing event staff. More detailed responsibilities are included below. REVELxp premium tailgates are available for each day of the 2026 Keeneland Spring Meet (16 total), spanning from Friday, April 3rd – Saturday, May 2nd, 2026. At minimum, candidates must commit to work every Friday and Saturday during the spring meet, with the ideal candidate being available each Thursday and for the occasional Wednesday or Sunday. Based on performance in this internship role, the employee has the potential to find an expanded role with the Lexington office in the summer/fall of 2026. The Lead Operations Intern position is a great way to gain experience in the sports and hospitality industry. REVELxp serves guests at Keeneland from around the country and world, and it provides a unique opportunity to learn about event planning and hosting while being immersed in the unique and local Keeneland atmosphere. The position also encourages personal growth and is a great opportunity to build your network, along with a chance to find an expanded role with the REVELxp Lexington office. Following the designated requirements, the intern will receive at least 20 hours of work per week, but be limited to 40-hour workweeks.

Responsibilities

  • Work, at minimum, each Friday (4 days) and Saturday (4 days) of the Keeneland Spring Meet from 8:30am-6:30pm. Hours subject to change slightly based on daily needs for report and departure time. Ideal candidate can also work most Thursdays with the occasional Wednesday or Sunday.
  • Arrive to site early on race day for final set up, welcoming of staff, and official opening of tailgate sites
  • Master the quality control process and ensure everything is set up properly before site open
  • Shadow and learn from the Event Manager on race days regarding setup and execution details
  • Welcome guests and guide staff in leading by example with the best customer service and treatment toward the people we serve
  • Quickly respond to any issues that arise at a tailgating site with good communication and effort to find a solution for the guest
  • Direct and help guests load their vehicles at the conclusion of their tailgate
  • Assist with closing each site (manage leftover catering, proper equipment breakdown, clean-up, etc.)
  • Help move valuable inventory to the storage tent
  • Dedicate 3-5 hours each week to assist the Event Manager with preparing documents and logs for race day use
  • Learn the communication process with all vendors and understand how tailgate days come together through our operation efforts
