About The Position

As a Lead Operating Engineer at JLL, you will lead the operation, inspection, and maintenance processes for mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems with minimal supervision. This critical role involves supporting the Chief Engineer in providing direction to the engineering team while ensuring optimal building performance and tenant satisfaction. You'll be instrumental in maintaining JLL's reputation for operational excellence, working hands-on with complex building systems while developing team capabilities and driving continuous improvement initiatives that contribute to our mission of creating transformative solutions for the real estate industry.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of related work experience in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or carpentry
  • Universal CFC EPA certification or commitment to achieving within first year (with JLL assistance)
  • Leadership/supervisory experience managing technical teams
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams)
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and comfortable using ladders up to 30 feet tall
  • Physical capability for frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and driving
  • Strong customer service skills and professional communication abilities

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school education, union training, military service, or college degree
  • Experience with CMMS systems and work order management
  • Knowledge of DDC and pneumatic control systems
  • Emergency response and on-call experience
  • Experience in commercial building maintenance operations

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned maintenance tasks including painting, pressure washing, lighting system maintenance, plumbing, HVAC systems, water treatment, locksmith work, and general maintenance
  • Assist in supervising and implementing comprehensive preventative maintenance programs
  • Maintain work order system (CMMS) daily and complete tenant service requests efficiently
  • Provide training and supervision to expand Engineering team capabilities and technical skills
  • Support on-call and emergency response situations with swift problem resolution
  • Troubleshoot all building systems including electrical, DDC, and pneumatic controls
  • Comply with all safety procedures and participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational training programs
